books on CD come to life!

September 7, 2011

As a kid on family car trips, we would listen to books on tape/CD. But these were not just simple stories being read by a boring voice; these stories came alive with “award-winning voice actors, orchestral musical scores, motion-picture quality sound design, and riveting scripts to unveil finished products that have earned coveted awards. Focus on the Family Radio Theatre isn’t just storytelling. It’s not a ‘book-on-tape.’ It’s a movie that plays on the biggest screen of all… your imagination.”

The Chronicles of Narnia along with other books on tape have many Scripture-based themes woven throughout their narrative. After we listened to these CDs, we knew my dad would give a sermon illustration that Sunday from the tales of the Pevensie children in Narnia and their encounter with Aslan.
This past week I borrowed the Horse and His Boy and the Last Battle (Narnia series), such wonderful stories! I would encourage each of you to have your children listen to any of the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre books on CD.
All of the CDs above, I would highly recommend: The Secret Garden, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, A Christmas Carol, and Silas Marner!
